Members of Mohawk Engine Company, pride themselves on being the finest trained company within the West Islip Fire Department. In addition to regularly training out at the Suffolk County Fire Academy in Yaphank, these fine members also attend regular conferences throughout the country and have also trained at the Rockland County Training Center in both "Flashover" and regular private dwelling conditions. Mohawk has always prided itself on being very aggressive in both interior attack and fire suppression tactics and believes that being well trained in these areas help that approach.
