The West Islip Fire Department Rescue Squad handles approximately 1500 rescue calls a year. The Rescue Squad is made up of men and women from the West Islip area who are dedicated to provide the West Islip community with the highest quality pre-hospital care available. The Rescue Squad has approximately 20 Rescue only members, and 40 Firefighter/Rescue personnel.
The Rescue Squad is a New York State Certified ALS Agency and has members in the following NYS Certified Titles:
Emergency Medical Technician - Defibrillator (EMT-D)
Advanced Emergency Medical Technician - Critical Care (AEMT-CC)
Advanced Emergency Medical Technician - Paramedic (AEMT-P)
Physician (On-Scene Medical Control)
